Thanks Malone for #72.
I thought barrel needed a three letter abbreviation but it looks like just one.

Thanks, Lumen. Glad I could help. Yes, the abbreviation part was new to me, I was surprised (and relieved) when it was in Chambers.

Still struggling.
What is 'original' doing in 38a, seems to work fine without.
9a only one word fits but no idea on parsing.
And 37a only one word fits again. But no idea why.
Otherwise happy with other 43 clues!

Lumen,
In 38a, 'original' can mean 'novel'. It's a separate anagram indicator for the word which is subtracted from the fodder.
37a. Def. is 'Scots lad' (5). Abb. for 'caught' + a word for 'guard' minus first and last letters. (out of bounds)
Did you mean 9d.? If so, it has an extra letter added on entry.

Thanks again Mattrom. I have finished. I did mean 9d. That's the one I don't fully understand still, but I know what letter must be added, and have the properties and the message.
7d really confused me as I thought it needed the word 'rises', leaving an I left over.

Lumen - 9d: def is first four words. Wordplay is three letter word for wrongfully in an overturned 4 letter word for throne.

Added letter in one of the last two positions

I haven't really got a clue about 28d (except for the clue of course!). Any helpful explanations would be greatly appreciated.

Also..... where does the "Y" from 45ac go?

Hope somebody can help.
