Thanks mattrom, got 26a, not in Chambers Word Wizard interestingly. I'm without my Chambers so does it justify wry being reversal?

45a I was trying to make an anagram of two words and couldn't figure out how the Any fitted in.

Hello all, fairly new to the Listener but absolutely love it, and the forum is a huge help (although I try not to peek until I'm entirely scuppered!).

On that front.. 40a is the only one I'm struggling to parse. I'm pretty sure the definition is the last two words, and if so then the abbreviation for island needs to be the standard abbrev. Am I on the right lines?!

On a different note, can anybody tell me whether the puzzles subscription of the Times, includes The Listener? By the time you add together stamp and full paper version of the Saturday Times, its an expensive hobby!

Agreed, and thankfully yes, although it's quite a few clicks in the online Crossword section to find it (somewhat in keeping, really).
