The theme...
Requests for help towards the theme may also be made here. The 'help' given should be of a gentle nature - enough of a nudge, pointer in the right direction, but not so much that it would spoil the puzzle for others. Any post which, even inadvertently, reveals too much is likely to be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

Ploy is usually harder than this, so I wonder if I'm missing something. A rather wider definition of "vowel" than I am used to, but easily accommodated when there was no other possibility.

Cockie, have you figured out why the title is significant?

Thanks CD - was trying to over-fancy anagramming while it was staring me in the face.

Got a full grid and just checking my extra/missing letters. I cannot parse 24a (Masonry arch has fleur in prim locations) though one clue word seems to be crying out for an extra letter!

You're right about the extra letter Rickye but you need to be more mathematical with it

rickye - clue has extra letter to create an occasional crossword device (ie ive seent it before in lostener but is certainly not used in every listener). that gives you second half of word. frst half involves anagram.

I dont have a full grid yet - i have two final cells that are ambiguous - so i assume there is something about the theme that makes it clear what letter to use, that is currently eluding me?

I'm still struggling to parse 26a (Act of compensation) and on unjumbling my letters for the two thematic properties (I thought I already understood the title but previous posts suggest not)
