for 28 the clue answer is 5 letter, so it needs "adjustment" to go in the grid. Trouble is there are two possibilities so you have to complete the endgame to know which is right. I'm still not sure about 18.

6d, as Jordan hinted at, the D in a word for ‘(see you) later’ (missing R) becomes a G.

i think later is a reasonable word for it - from see you later i assume

The BRB gives as one def. for "later", interj. (chiefly US) see you later, goodbye.

So nearly there on an enjoyable puzzle but I can’t find a suitable “adjustment” to use the letter I removed from 11A. I can see it must be in a blank unchecked square, but I have a full grid.

Just realised why I was confounded by 6D. Online version has “late”, not “later”.
