The theme...
Help towards the theme may also be sought here. The aim should be to give a nudge, a pointer in the right direction - something that would help a struggling solver, and yet nothing that would spoil the puzzle for others. Any requests or replies that, even inadvertently, reveal too much are likely to be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

A bit messy but it resolves nicely (I think).

Maybe not so neat - there's either a mistake in the preamble or a missing bar in the grid (I think).

I think it's OK - the 'overlap' only works for 'consecutive answers' (cells with multiple letters are treated differently).

I thought this was a cleverly constructed crossword, with a satisfying endgame - thanks to "Vainglorious"

Pretty straightforward and nicely constructed -- though my heart shrank when I saw "die" in the title again!

Got a full grid and the relevant letters from the subjects. However, I don't see the reference to French art in the 2nd 1d clue and struggling to see the answers to 9a and the last 2d .................. and I know what you mean Throck, I now have a psychological aversion to Yahtzee.

Got them both now, just struggling to understand the French art reference.
