Granama #59 - I’ve just fallen in to the “Archer” clue and in hindsight I can’t believe I spent so long missing the crosswordy definition!

Pootle, I think I'm going to have to have another look at my across options. I have the 3 authors so am reasonably confident of the starting letters for 25a and 28a.

Glad that someone seems to have finished! I ask again: are the three quotations in ODQ? The middle writer has the fewest entries (and he's one I've been fond of since boyhood), but none seems to chime with what the preamble requires. A slightly rounded interpretation of the four-word requirement suggests that each quotation involves 20 cells. Is this correct?

I wish that I could help you cockie, but I'm still stuck on 23a andhow to enter 13a. I haven't a clue about the play as there seems to be several options for letter changes in some of the clues, for example, in 23a it could be G for F, or C for G.

Wow, what a workout. After about two full days of solving I have a nearly full grid with some ambiguities, the three authors (although at least one of them could plausibly be at least two possible people since I have no quote ideas yet), the play title (which I guessed early on although in practice hasn’t helped me yet), and what I presume to be the four shape words although I’ve no clue how to proceed with them!

I also still haven’t solved 21ac so I’m in the market for nudges there as well as how to proceed with this impressive but impenetrable endgame!

For 21a in the definition, don't stress the 2nd syllable. Any help on 23a?

21A - definition is last word - ie a thing that numbs, not a digit.

Gitto - 23Ac. Def is first word.

Next 5 words = full wordplay. A synonym for lie around and anagram of mail is.

Final 6 words = 8 letter grid entry.

Cockie, I don’t think the first quotation is in ODQ, but the others are. Your last inference is correct. The size of the shape is precisely chosen, as Pythagoras confirms
