Brendan, if you didn’t see it at the time, you might enjoy Jay’s Mid Week Puzzle #8. There was much discussion about the collective noun for choughs as I recall. Just type Jono in the search box and it will come up…

Thank you Jono, given the subject matter I'm truly disappointed to have missed it. At least I've now got a second chance at it:-)

Really enjoy this type of puzzle and particularly enjoyed this one.

Despite the fact that, for obvious reasons, it was the first one I put in, I'm still slightly confused as to how to parse "K", anyone?

Didn’t start until today , so was a little confused by some of comments about instructions. Like you Snowwhite it would never have occurred to me that that answers didn’t begin with letter indicated .
Araucaria was my favourite and like you I have books of his crosswords which never fail to challenge, inspire and delight. Paul has done well with this but he does not have the Araucaria magic.
Agree with comments about C and T, favourites L, Y and W.

Some comments on here praise Y, which I got only by guessing from the crossers and the rather feeble definition. What is the wit in the wordplay which I have missed?

Thank you geeker - and I apologise for the delay in responding. That's a real groan!
