Yes I see what you are saying Brendan but I actually started out under the assumption that it was implied by the special instructions so I have been using that assumption to solve the paltry few that I have solved! I am afraid there is no hope for me today!

Don't be so hard on yourself, we all have our off days.

Try the 'very long anagram' I referred to in my earlier post, that will help you an awful lot and is not on the list of those you've done.

i really don't understand your tip, brendan. each answer starts with each letter of the alphabet in turn, yes?

That is the tip I was trying to hint at, yes Chris.

Justsolve,
There are only two 10-letter words in the grid, and you have one of them. Try "pencilling" that into both slots, and you will find where one of your other answers fits as a crosser.

I have solved most of the clues, but I can't make A for on either side with some of the other answers. I've either got answers wrong or do the clues get separated when they are multiple words and it's literally fit the words however they will go?

By which I mean I can't make E or P fit with A wherever I put them forwards or backwards

The multiple-word clues don't get separated. I found it easiest in this particular crossword to start with the 6 8-letter answers, which were among the easier ones, and work out which of them had a fourth letter that could be the beginning of a 10-letter clue and a final letter that could be the beginning of a 5-letter clue. Once I'd got that one in, I was able to start fitting a few more in.

I must have A wrong then cause it doesn't fit with any of the four letter answers I have

Hi Babyjane,

No, the long answers are not split up onto different rows or columns. For example, the long A (7,4,4) is all on one column.

I hope that helps.
