Hi Justsolve,

Have a look at the clues you've solved and what letters the answers begin with - do you notice anything?

it looks like the key is the 5 letter ones, but after an hour i've still only got the u!
i wonder how well known the second meaning of b is. i got it straight away, but i can speak some italian.

I - 7 letter French city minus it's outer letters/uncovered then singles letter "deception finally" - the princess is getting Shakespeare I believe

Brendan thanks for that, but no I'm afraid I cannot see a pattern of any sort , but then I have no idea what I am supposed to be looking for! I am obviously having a rather dense day... is there any way to give a hint without too obvious a spoiler?

Justsolve, obviously I don't know what clues you've solved but let's say, for example that it's K, P, R and V - do you notice a similarity between those questions and the first letter of their answers?

OK thanks Brendan. Think I had a different French city with no first letter with a princess inside. Wrong answer.

What helps me with these is looking for words that imply it is either an across or down clue. The 5s have one here. I have used it, no guarantee it is actually right.
