Yes, andyp. Unless I'm completely on the wrong track, 7 of the 11 letters are easily spotted. It's the last 4 that are causing me grief. I'll hope for a pdm later in the morning.

90% done, but really struggling to find the quotation - is there a misprint in 36a - because I can't see it!

It's a topic I"m very familiar with, so I kicked myself for taking so long to spot the theme. Still struggling with six of the eight to give an instruction.

Just the 11 pesky letters to find now - and as you know, grid staring is not my favourite pastime - and I would have found this impossible to get this far without the internet.
