granama1 and smithsax, the Australian advertising campaign didn't use the phrase I think you refer to. Their word was '…..'. The title refers to general Aussie slang. There are two variations for the second word, but the more commonly used one begins with 'F'.

Note by Admin - Removed a word as I have been informed that it is too specific and reveals the theme.

I’ve got a complete puzzle at this point except for, strangely, the unchecked cell in 16ac because I can’t figure out what’s going on with that clue. Any nudges welcome!

cm, the letter is missing from the third word. Definition is the last three words.

Hooray! Took some doing but I got there in the end. I spent ages trying to understand Joe 30d and 34d could have the indicated number of letters from the parsing but there was a bit of licence I guess. V satisfying! Thanks Check.

If Check does a carte blanche, will that be a blank Check? Getting my coat now.

I've made a slow start on this one, largely because I was heading back from holibobs so have only given it quick glances on ferries and the like and haven't really had a chance to concentrate properly yet. I can see it's superbly constructed though, if only from the fact that there are quite a number of clues where it's quite hard to see how a letter could be added at all! Looking forward to getting properly into it now.

One quick query. I see the rubric adds that "Numbers in brackets are the lengths of grid entries". This confirmation is usually included when there are clues that need something doing to the answer before it's added to the grid -- something removed, added, or reordered. However, as far as I can see, once the missing letter is restored to each clue it is simply solved and the answer put straight into the grid without change. That's certainly been the case with the ten or so I've done so far. I'd be grateful for either a reassurance that the remaining clues are indeed just solved and entered, or for a hint/pointer to a bit of the rubric I may not have read carefully enough...!

''...to fill the remaining blank cells'' is a big hint in the preamble, mooncow.

It is, but there are unclued entries too and I didn’t see anything in the rubric to suggest that answers might be shorter than grid entries — other than the inclusion of this guidance about the numbers in brackets! Ok, I’ll keep the possibility in mind as I look at the remaining clues…. Thx.

You will have to work that one out for yourself MC. I did wonder if the preamble was a bit misleading, but the puzzle was so good, and the uncertainly added so nicely to the level of difficulty without making it impossible to solve that I decided it was fair.
