Is there anything unusual or slightly 'lateral thinking' about the by-product? None of the ones I would have expected seem to work.

The title is taking me longer to suss out than the puzzle did. Perhaps an access of the product has dulled my brain.

Cookie, I assumed an anagram relating to the advertising of an antipodean product of a variant of the process. Could be quite wrong though.

Granama1, nothing strange about the by-product, though I might argue it’s an essential component rather than a by-product. You would notice if it wasn’t there.

Agree about the title, especially if it goes through the process

I thought the title was a deliberately ambiguous reference to the product and an injunction against over indulgence.

Thanks Quisling. 👍

Yes, I agree, it's quite essential, although an excess of it may be produced...unless it's something like the title, in which case it all seems to be included. 😄

Glad you sorted it, Granama1. Appropriately placed too, of course!

Piffleworthy. I don’t think the title is ambiguous. A famous antipodean description of the thematic product could be regarded as wordplay that leads you precisely to the puzzle title.

You're right, I didn't express myself clearly. I meant the ambiguity between title and the second 'element'.
