Last symbol was tricky..

Making very slow progress with this one; I’m about 80% through the grid, with three “symbols” complete and an idea about the rest but no confirmed fill. Tricky but fun so far!

After being held up by the NW quadrant for far too long I now have another BIG problem as I currently have only 5 cells with clashes. I have the three different symbols but struggling with the other one. A bit more head scratching methinks.

All done now, the final clash was my nemesis, but after reassessing the preamble I finally found it, and the final symbol is so blindingly obvious that I now feel slightly stupid - nothing new in that though.

Need help over the finishing line please. Got the author and book. Got the quotation. Know what symbols I need to make.
Found two the same and the first of the other three.

Please help with 20a and 41a.
And 12 d
Can’t find where 2 more clashes are and can’t make a symbol out of one I do have half of.

Please send help.

You’ve literally answered your own question - all of the clues to which you seek answers contain clashes, so the answers are necessarily longer than the grid entries.

Words 5-7 of the preamble are worth studying and complying with…

20: last word def, a word for stop (int.) + a dialect word for any. Can't be more specific, I'm afraid!
