one of their favourites for upset but pp and usual oregon - defn at beginning - has extra word

Thanks lumen & crates—as it turns out I was fine on 5ac and 6d, but I was very doubtful about 5ac (and therefore the rest of the crosses) because I would have assumed the answer would have needed to be two words (or, less likely, hyphenated). Surprised it's just one!

chrisremo - It is hyphenated. The listener brackets show if more than one word but do not indicate when hyphenated...ie as in answer 'all-to' a few weeks back which showed as (5)...

No problem - Another thing that can make you doubt yourself as occasionally I have had a part answer filled but think that combination of letters cannot form a word ... until I remember it could be hyphenated...

I'm still missing at least one redundant word—I have 14 acrosses and 12 downs, although as well as the missing one it's possible some of mine are incorrect—but even given that I'm struggling to see how the initials spell anything. I feel quite inadequate, but would anyone like to attempt to nudge me in the right direction?

Having spent Saturday in Cardiff watching a poor performance from my nation, I found the grid and easy fill. However...
Am I looking for 30 cells with words for a species reversed? If so are 1 and 13 across red herrings? I know some of the discussion above has covered some of the points but I am catching up so any help appreciated.
