Quixote, it's not how I'd normally choose to describe myself, but yesterday I was one of the 'kibbitzers'. It was Tuesday, I'd finished the puzzle on Saturday morning - and hadn't had the foresight to keep a copy in case anyone needed help. Maybe I'll take photocopies every week - of Listener, Inquisitor, EV, the Times Prize Cryptic, the Times Jumbo... - just in case someone comes along and says 'Help with 39 D please'. Oh, and I'll put these in a folder and take them out every time I leave the house. The other day I helped out from a railway station platform. I'd looked in on the Forum while waiting for my delayed train.
If I had found any clue so tough that I was still grappling with it days later, I really would be quite happy to write out a clue even a verbose one. I'd trade five minutes of typing/posting for an hour of fruitless staring any day of the week.

Giving the clue also gives non-regulars the opportunity to see other puzzles. I like getting the chance to tackle the occasional Guardian or Azed clue. I've run out of space... but not opinions!

Quixote, it's entirely up to you whether or not you type out the clues as we request in the Posting Guidelines, I cannot force you to do anything, however I would say the following.

If I was a member of the Forum helping others, I wouldn't be inclined to help anyone if THEY can't be bothered to help themselves by giving the clues.

And you could have typed out several clues whilst you typed your waffling post.

I'm not over keen on the tone of your post regarding kibbitzers, kinky pleasure and nerdiness but you say no offence intended, so I'll ignore it on this occasion. You are though crossing the line towards being derogatory about other members of our lovely friendly forum.

Malone, Norah -
I am of course one of the nerds myself - I was just speculating about degrees of nerdiness above my own.

And I do indeed waffle - noted for it in other fields - "Never use one word when ten will do'' is my proud motto.

In perspective my rather rude post was one of those 'tantrums' that I told a newcomer to this Forum to expect from time to time, somewhere among these threads recently.

You're right - my objection to typing out the full clues each time is simply slobbishness - basically, I can't be arsed.

But love you both dearly. ♥♥

Quixote, thanks. We all have things that bug us, disproportionately so at times - and your huffing and puffing about writing out clues seems to have been one of those!

PS I have kept this post short and simple, to balance out your earlier verbiage.

Thanks Quixote for your response, we all have 'tantrums' on bad days, I'll count this as one of yours. Just try and remember next time to keep your comments on the 'polite' side of the line rather than the 'derogatory' side, thanks.

Managed this one without too much trouble — nice one — but am puzzled by one by it of wordplay that no one else seems to have asked about so it must be just me! 14d, I have the answer (and every letter is, eventually, checked anyway) and know the extra letter, I see the naps in Perth, and probably the nothing, but not sure how it is disrupting Mac’s grandchildren. Any hints would be welcome to finish this last niggle…

Mooncow,
14d. is 'nothing is' (minus the extra letter), inside the plural of a Scots word for grandchildren .
