Thank you Vagans. Cleverly constructed puzzle, if unfortunate in its timing.

Groundhog day for me. Full grid, full quotation, know the source, don't (yet) know what cells to highlight. Hoping the magic of posting helps.......

........and it did!! All finished now. Methinks a number of simple anagrams made this a lot easier than most Listener puzzles. I was a little baffled by one of the items until I realised that the ancient title had been used.

Simond9x, the answer is an odd-looking word. The 'plough' is much-used in crosswords, that comes after the curtailed 'profitable'.

Thanks, malone. Got it now. There’s something about the answer that catches me out, again and again, when searching Chambers CD Rom. Grrr!

Thanks, simond9x. I initially thought I'd gone wrong with that one...!

Know what you mean Simond9x - this one caught me out too. The Chambers iPhone app doesn't have this problem but I tend to use the old CD-ROM program as I'm better with a computer keyboard than a phone.

Nice puzzle. For those who found it too easy, the IQ is a stinker (well, I thought so).

Have you tried WordWebPro which is a desk-top app? I used to use the CDROM but it stopped working about 10 years ago.
