Obviously a bit late to it but where can I find Listener Puzzle 4691 - I can’t find it anywhere in the puzzles in the Times over the Christmas break?
Thanks

Eschen.... you'll find post 2 on the thread for Listnener 4690 helpful.

Eschenmoser, glad I could help - and sorry for the typo in the name of our revered puzzle!

Was making steady progress through this but ground to a halt on the last two, both of which contribute to (c) which is looking like gibberish at the moment.

28d I can construct an answer from the wordplay but it doesn't match the definition so far as I can tell. Maybe a very gentle hint please.

31d I have an answer which matches the definition but I can't see the first part of the wordplay or the extra letter.

Until I can make sense of (c), I won't know how to approach the endgame. Thanks in advance

Simon, look up "duke" in Chambers (it can mean something other than a nobleman)

31: 3-letter word for "great" - the third letter is extra, plus abbrev for line and a two-letter verb for serve (as in that will XX for my purposes)

Thanks, loge. I had the correct answer for 28d and I was sure I'd looked it up in Chambers - obviously not. Hm... looking at (c) now, I've either gone horribly wrong or need to ponder further. Can't think I've gone wrong because (a) and (b) both make perfect sense. I'm aware of the source of (b) but have no further knowledge of it. Time to fire up Google methinks.

I think I've finally sussed 22,31. I have the correct number of words and letters and it sort of parses though I don't quite get what 'death' brings to the party? Can anyone give me a nudge, within the spirit of this thread of course?

The last five letters of the penultimate word of the answer are a euphemism for death (it's in Chambers).
