What do the commas signify? Are there 9 letters in the answer?

Hi, the instruction is: "Give the next term that follows logically from the sequence given and explain very briefly the reason for your choice". So the commas simply separate the items in the sequence. No other function. There is no guide as to the number of letters. (An example from the quiz: "pha, eta, mma". The answer is lta - the last three letters of the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet.)

I think it may be `Y`

If `Rivers` is the link ...

Dee , Tees , Exe , Wye

Hello Quizzers
Just wondering if anyone has an inspired answer (or clue) for the sequence Grays, Hexham, Ipswich? Other than the g,h,i, 5,6,7 letter (and reversed w,x,y in the first three) place name sequence, I am struggling to find a connection!
Thanks

…is this another ‘what comes fourth in the sequence’ question?

I was hoping there might be a place name beginning with J (8 letters maybe) with ov somewhere
