Very fine and fair crossword . IMO Paul is one of the best compilers . When you see a crossword by him you know it might take some time but you can finish it and it will be satisfying to do so .

I agree, Brendan is very good too and Nutmeg's crossword on Tuesday was excellent as well, not solved that many from her I think, I will look out for her in future.

Dave Gorman's one on Friday was way easier than a normal Friday though! (Apart from 13A which was tricky).

This was the best Paul crossword I have done recently... took me 4 days to finish lol.

When the penny dropped it was marvellous though.

Good puzzle this. Still somewhat stuck in SW corner.

Still can't parse 10a. Waiting for the PDM

I got into this by thinking of different 1,22s and an episode of Fawlty Towers came to my rescue.

Rocky, I did exactly the same i.e. backing into 6a from the cocktail references and had the very same thought about Fawlty Towers which we seem to come back to here a lot it seems

Jono. It absolutely got me started on this. And somewhat more contemporary, Two and a Half Men got me 9a as well.

Thank God for sitcoms.

A most enjoyable teaser.

Any hints how to parse 8a? Assuming my answer is correct, my dad was a very talented one on the field in the 1950s.

Hi Deliquium,

8a - Is a sort of humorous double definition, one is the skill your Dad had and the other you have to imagine a "hungry child" and why they might need a bib:-)
