Hi everyone

I've been out for much or the day today - to Sidmouth and then a garden centre - with my daughter, so only started the crossword an hour or so ago and my heart sank. I hate it when all depends on one clue, which I haven't got. I did get two on first read through - 19ac and 5d.

I haven't read all of this long thread yet, but decided on advice to get 1d, 22ac first which I identified from a list of cocktails. I also got 8ac from hint 29 in this thread, though can't see the evidently hungry kid myself.

I think I've got the cocktail for 9ac, which gives me an inkling of the answer to 6ac, though I can't parse it.

I'll be back

Hi Roof, if you have 2 related cocktails you have 6A correct. I couldn't parse it either until I filled in the entire grid and everything was correct it seems apart from 10A which has 2 viable answers. Brendan explained it earlier on, it's still a very loose first definition to be honest!

Brendan explained 6A earlier on I mean. We have discussed 10A quite a bit already and it seems we all now agree on the right answer.

Hi Roof,

I hope you enjoyed the day out with your daughter. When I finally saw all my brothers and sisters, cousins, nephews etc. again at a family wedding a couple of months ago, it was the first time for over year, since the start of the pandemic, I realised how much we all took times like these for granted.

Oh I'm an idiot - if course it's obvious as a homophone, didn't know that as an indicator. Thanks Brendan. I think that does work for 'done' in the uk?It's how I got it.

Thanks HaverMonkey, but you shouldn't be so hard on yourself - we've all been there:-)

Yeah I was thinking about non-UK solvers, which I assumed you were if you had none in the SW corner, if you are from the UK I thought you would have got the answer to 14D fairly easily!

Much to my amazement I have finished, though I'm not sure about the parsing for some. Where is the 6ac in 22d? There are several other clues with which I take issue. But I don't get a green tick using the grid in the paper.

Chris E, why were cooking curries?

My dinner is ready so must go.
