I spotted one of the 'two figures' first - and the symmetry showed me where the other one would be (and the slight adjustment required).

I can get 98 cells to do something to, or 109. But 103 ... ?

@Drxx. Ah, so you actually have to replace the clashes with the added results? Light begins to dawn I think.

So, I think I have completed the puzzle .. but wonder if I’ve missed something because I seem to have 3 clashing pairs that don’t do anything (beyond contribute 3 letters of the writer’s name) .. could anyone please confirm one way or the other?

Hi LB,

If you're referring to the 1 in 25a and the 2 in 14a then I think they just contribute to the author's name - at least that's what i have.

I seem to have a problem with verse 5 column 12. I need an unshaded cell in either row 2 or 5, is that correct??

Many thanks CD - I still have a lot to do as I only have 43 of the 47 and 59 including the two figures (that is if the space is shaded).

I am in a similar position to cockle. The grid comprises 156 cells. Taking into account the total of 150 (47 & 103) mentioned in the preamble, doesn't that mean the two figures must occupy a total of only 6 cells if - as it indicates (and drxx confirms) - they are excluded from the 47 ? If I have the correct figures, they sit in quite a few more than 6. On the other hand, one of my figures is 'split over two rows', so perhaps they should be included in the 47 after all ?
