Can someone please put me out of my misery over 47 Down, which doesn't appear to have been queried yet but for which I can find no answer whose definition fits any word(s) in the clue? Assume the word is in Chambers but only a handful will fit. Thanks.

Despite loge's very generous hint above I'm still struggling - this is my default state on a Saturday.
I had the first part of 28 down as a unit of currency with an obvious symbol but couldn't parse the clue. This appears to be due to the fact that I was completely wrong. I still however have not worked out the 5,4 which means babe. Following loge's hint I see that a 'y' needs to be altered but would greatly welcome a further hint on thisi clue.
If I have that I am then going to plough my way through the KJV for a suitable 41. Am I on the right lines?
Thanks all

@williamseal

The five letter word is very similar to the name of your symbol.

Before you plough through the KJV, think about what 'a suitable 41' might be.

The expression 5,4 is an oldfashioned British phrase for
a good looking but thick young woman.

Having sung the praises of the setters last week, I have to say how much I dislike the starethon puzzles as per this week's.

I've been staring for hours now and getting nowhere. Starting to lose the will to live.

Cs75. Assuming you have the theme, find 5 entries that are synonyms of each other. Below each of these you will find the 5 sets of nine cells that need highlighting.
