Slightly more generous hints to the theme may also be given here - in response to a request, not unsolicited. It is, of course, tricky to define 'slightly more generous', but I feel it's worthwhile trying to get the balance right.

I hate being the first to ask for help, especially so early, but 5a has me stumped. I've used the search feature in the Chambers app but there are no matches. I am confident that I have the crossing letters correct. Is it an old British brand name or similar?

MPRS - An earlier version of a very English name for a particular type of sweet - think Kojak!

Mathprofrockstar, it's just an odd variation of a very normal word, the definition being'sweets' (candies, not desserts). Anagramming is involved...

MPRS - the plural isn't in the Chambers app so search without the final letter

Thanks, all. I thought I had searched without the final s, but I must have had a typo. Never heard the word before, so it was very obscure to me.

Re: justification for 6:10 - yes, correct as per KJV.

Is the answer at 28 down a real word and is it in chambers.
