Thanks HW7

I think I see it now - but not the best of clues! However a very good puzzle overall so many thanks

It’s been a tale of two puzzles for me. Filled in the bottom half relatively quickly Friday. After being otherwise occupied yesterday, I have returned only to struggle mightily with the top. I am finally making inroads in the upper left, but the only word I can find for 17a is a type of wine. Is the misprint in the first word making the definition pudding wine?

Thanks for the confirmation. I did not know that word for schooner. I am feeling the title now. I had great expectations after cruising through the bottom half, but they have definitely turned bleaker.

Thanks MPRS, this is one of my favourite endgames because the final diagram is so spot on - you can just picture the scene:-)

I was fortunate to figure out the dialogue from the extra letters early, and that has helped me piece together some of the more difficult (for me anyway) clues.

Grid filled finally. Just don’t see the parsing for 8d and 18d.
