The answer is a relatively common word that is in Chambers and once you have that and the wordplay, the missing letter should then become obvious

I realise what’s going on now thanks to 28 down. The tiny bit of fat isn’t the obvious one in Chambers. Tiny is the key word.

I am plodding along. I understand the omissions but have only found short ones so far. Are there really words that contain all of the other longer ones?
