Finally limped over the finish line. 14d had me foxed until I checked the meaning of nun in Chambers.

Merenz, I do have shared letters between the entry for 20ac and the small one at the bottom, which makes the latter nonsense. Any thoughts?, thanks

Dylan - I had that issue for a while and then realised I hadn’t parsed 3d correctly and and had that entry wrong which then resolved everything.

Almost there, but struggling to fully understand the code. Do letters shift in multiples of a certain number?

Merenz is correct, there are no shared letters. It it possible you've gone wrong somewhere with the coding? I did that several times along the way, getting the plain letters and the coded ones the wrong way round.

Of course it depends what word you have for the short thematic, and we can't really discuss that without giving away the theme. Also worth double checking the letters you've got from the four crossing entries, perhaps?

The code looks pretty random to me, but there may be something clever that I'm not seeing.

I think merenz was referring to row 5, which isn't 20ac?

Dylan - there is only one shared letter between the short entry and 20ac - the first letter of the short entry

I agree CD, and to clarify there are NO shared letters between the short entry and the one in Row 5.
