I'd already equated (incorrectly) house to "in" so that's where I was going wrong.

Does the string of six associated items in cells joined by edges include pepper?
If so why?
If not please give another hint.

bananabean - I thought you had the two replacement words. If so, you are looking for six items that would come out of it. Pepper is part of one of the items

I've completed the end game with help from Bradford's in spotting the 4th hidden item. Is there any other way of identifying the author other than via the works? The wording from the extra letters implies that there is ie '......and.....' Am I reading too much into the message? I don't really see why the last word in the message is necessary either (which also makes me feel like I've missed something)!
