Still can't see the French director one despite what seems good advice earlier. Presume we are talking about 4 letter Fr word for director often seen first in the end credits? Just can't see the 8 letter word for summons.
Also would love a hint for the Rome square one.

Lumen, this French director was comedic and appeared in his own films. For the Roman one, think numerals in the wordplay.

Could someone give me a nudge with 18 please? I have the first four letters after enciphering and think the final one must be K but I can't reverse engineer the original answer, apart from something to do with Noah. But that doesn't parse.
