Re 25, both are verbs. If you add ING to the answer, you can give someone a good......

It's in Chambers. Or have I misunderstood the objection?

it's a colloquial usage according to chambers, and i've never come across it. "a good hiding" (noun), yes, but i can't imagine anyone saying "i hided him".

I'm struggling with that too. Just 3 to get. Lots of CODs but 17a just about gets it.
