I have the same problem as turast highlighting the quarry...I had come up with an alternative quarry (IJ's dad) but that doesn't work either?

I can get the surname to work but that doesn't feel quite right and contradicts some earlier hints

I found five letters that spell the "quarry" in 33 and 44, which seemed appropriate enough. Remember, according to the preamble they are not in order. I didn't much care for this part of the endgame though. It just felt weak.

Jings, crivvens and help ma boab! Ma (elephant trap version of 3d)’s fair birlin’! Thank you, Elgin for a brilliant treat. Took me from helpless head scratching to a roller coaster finish.

In an earlier Listener thread in the summer, I mentioned that I was about to start eight weeks of radiotherapy. I’ve now had the first follow up clinic and I’m happy to report that it seems that the treatment has worked.

End of the year and best wishes to all who have helped me. In the end this puzzle has proved that little bit too difficult for me, though I solved 14 down early on and also the reporter.

Despite reading the nudges above and googling the film repeatedly I cannot get 44 across and 33 down. Is 44 across something to do with troubled water? If someone wanted to put a confused seal out his misery could you tell me which cell in the top row to start and do you make knight's moves thereafter? I have, I think got all the clashes.

Arsenal lost again, London in tier 4 means we can't go and see the pups. However Mrs Seal and I are well provided with herrings on the Norfolk coast so I simply send my thanks and best wishes to all I would have hoped to meet at the now long-forgotten AZED lunch.

I think you've got it on 44, williamseal. For 33 it is something best avoided, as our hero did. I found the answers in the Wikipedia article about the movie. It's been a long time since I've seen it.
