My printed version of this puzzle has a legend that starts “Tgyuffo tpmvujpot” and doesn’t get any more comprehensible as it goes on, at least to me. Clearly I’m missing something, and would appreciate help. Thank you.

The preamble has been coded by moving each letter a certain number of spaces in the alphabet.
(They don't move very far) The first word is a number.

Heading back for my vaguely traditional hello... I really enjoy watching the solving process going on in this forum, and thanks for giving hints, not spoilers. Hope you all enjoyed it - it was certainly fun to set. I'll post something about the construction on Fifteen Squared at some point.

Final question: did *nobody* spot the Nina?!

Gee that's clever, Hamish ... didn't know what it was without looking it up! I didn't spot it because i'm no good at ninas - plus I have to draw myself a scribbly grid in my diary for want of a printer because it's in France ... I guess everyone was too relieved to solve all the fiendish shifts to look for more encryption! Thanks for another excellent solve.
