Another slight hitch, I have that the extra letter required by 8d and 17a is at their intersection, so is unchecked. That feels wrong!

The fourth letter of 8d and the second of 17a are the additions. I don't recall any unchecked extra letters though there a few ambiguities as to which of two letters is removed from an unchecked cell (resolvable when the instruction starts to make sense). I thought the latter rather mean, but I suppose the puzzle would have been far too easy otherwise :)

I might finish this sometime later this year - but a hint to 27a and/or 41a may help me complete it a little sooner. I do have several issues with this crossword - not being a polyglot doesn't help, nor does the use of German abbreviations. As for the two part instruction I seem to have nonsense following the first word, namely ?w?c?lu...... . What have I done wrong?
