Thanks Krauton. Just number 20 to go. Really stumped by the "pigeon".

20 def is someone eating dry fruit - the pigeon could be a religious type and the journey is 4 letters (minus the last) inside it.

Thanks, drxx. I had the 8 letters , but was lazy and used an anagram solver. Strangely, it didn't come up.
Should have just done it on paper. Thanks again.

Like many others, I suspect, I have been working through this with TEA using the letters I know to be in the answer. I'd appreciate a hint for my final entry 2D. Not being a gardener, I'm not sure what a dibber is - something for making holes and planting seeds?

A 'dibber' makes holes for planting seeds, foinaven - if you put the S(pade) in front of a similar implement you'll get the full answer.

...after a couple of hours I bit the bullet and dug out the 'Word Wizard' - I'm always disappointed when I feel I have to do that to move forward (should have struggled on a bit longer, perhaps...?).

I’ve got as far as the quote and have about ten radials to go, but I’m not sure that I’ll bother with it any further. Call me a prude, but I find it distasteful. I don’t expect people to agree with me on this, but perhaps I will have more support if I raise, yet again, the question as to how on earth we can be expected to solve this without the internet.

Thanks drxx. I had somehow convinced myself this was an inward answer - so presumably I miscounted somewhere. And of course the afternoon is there for the 7 digit answer but not for the entry.

Could quisling (or another helpful landlubber) tell me what TEA is and how to access it?

Normally I have a bash over a few days then go into this forum on Thursday or Friday. This one however has very difficult clues for cold solving - though I was pleased to see 24 making an appearance. It would be hard enough if all the radials went the same way, with the missing letters adding enough challenge . I have however solved 11 perimeter and if anyone is feeling sorry for me (or simply charitable) a nudge on any of the other perimeters would keep me going.

Thanks
