I was suggesting that a similar appeal to the regulars on 15squared could help raise the EV profile where it appears to matters most - over there (I should have been clearer on that point) .

If the good people on that site realise that an excellent puzzle came very close to being cancelled due to a perceived lack of popularity, they might be prepared to help the cause (and I hope Spoffy's appeal to that effect pays off).

My idea was that in addition to those of us from this site posting on 15squared, those on 15squared could also post here - battling on two fronts, so to speak.

I blog the EV, yet I never submit it. If they are judging popularity by submissions, they should think again. (I never usually post here either.)

I recall the decision to replace their bridge coverage with poker. Yes, poker is more popular. That doesn't mean that people want in the Sunday Telegraph. The decision was soon reversed.

I may be wrong, but I don't think anyone is likely to start buying the Sunday Telegraph just because they introduce a Toughie.

Finally, I too have a Telegraph subscription that will end with the Enigmatic Variations.

Mistersting, I think you missed the good news - the decision to stop EV has been reversed. It's mentioned earlier in the thread.

Thank you to Spoffy, Ifor and Chalicea for their postings here and for the pleasure they have given me with their puzzles. Also thanks to others who may be setters. I hope solvers will comment on 15squared, and I resolve to submit enties when I have completed puzzles.

Like many others I also subscribe to the Telegraph purely for the EV. I will also unsubscribe if it is lost.

I can't find an EV on the glossy new Telegraph web site. I understood that the decision to axe the EV had been reversed. Does it survive in the printed version of the Sunday Telegraph, is there a hiatus, or what is happening?

The fact that it is in the printed version is no use for those of us who took out a digital puzzles subscription solely to get the EV and who do not want the newspaper. I will cancel on Monday.
