I have every sympathy with the sentiments expressed but doubt if any campaign would be effective. Print newspapers are struggling and trying to work out business models that can allow them to survive.
I do AZED, the Listener and EV. The first is available free online; for the second I buy the Paper (I'd do so anyway); for the third I pay an annual subscription for crosswords only (I don't like the Paper). I thought that the Telegraph had the best model of the three, but evidently not. If EV goes I cancel my subscription.
Going forward I'd really welcome any advice on the best way of getting my fix of crosswords at this level - I'm a second division solver but enjoy having a bash. I'm prepared to pay and suspect that we have a community that is sufficiently well-off to keep this art form going. I hope so.
It's an aside but I am far more concerned about the fate of local newspapers. Hope this wider view causes no offence.
