I have just printed this off. When I saw setter I thought "this will be fun if not too challenging". Having now seen the puzzle it appears that Chalicea has seriously upped the ante. Nice one, Shirley!! - really looking forward to battling with this😄

I thought much the same but as ever Chalicea is scrupulously fair and it all falls together very neatly, no ambiguity, no tiresome grid searching and not a lot of crayoning. Thanks Shirley, a most welcome respite from the seemingly never ending doom and gloom.

Thank you Bobby Collins and S_Pugh. Of course we all log in to see how you react to our compilations and, with the empty hours of total lockdown looming for so many of us, I was really hoping that this would give a bit of pleasure and fill a couple of hours for solvers, so your early responses have made my day.

Hi
I am not sure about a lack of ambiguity. In the game specified in 25ac the element from the last clue doesn’t feature. I am assuming that bounded by the name includes the name but do the items included in 13ac merit any special treatment.

As someone who marks 3 weeks isolation tomorrow, and who never submits the solutions, any chance of a link to the puzzle please? Thanks in advance.

What a wonderful puzzle. Elegant solve, superb clues, nice satisfied feeling at the end.

geoff172, I suspect your answer for 38dn may be incorrect. From the instructions: “ along with three additional items filled according to the words removed from the clues that delivered them”.

I’ve left the 13ac items which I think is correct.

Hi Lexawkward and thanks for your reply.
I can accept that 13ac is entered unamended but I am sure that my answer to 38d is correct. To get the correct letters for the description of the person only one word can be removed. My answer is cross-checked by three entries and the letter to be treated follows the pattern of others to be treated and acts as a divisor in the name. However, the word removed from the clue does not feature in the game mentioned in 25ac.
