No query, no plea for help - just a post to say what a delightful puzzle this was!

Brendan, I hope you give this a go.

Yes, another one this week.
My only - very slight - quibble is why return it to original place? Just because that's what actually happened?

Loved the puzzle. My only (slight) quibble is that it would have been nice had the location the object was returned to was similarly circumscribed as was the location it was found (sorry for such a convoluted sentence!)

Yes, that would have been lovely, gabrielc- but maybe just a bit too much to fit in.

Can I just check a couple of things...

Should I initially enter my answers in pencil because some entries are moved about?

Brendan, yes - I always stick with pencil, or print off a photocopy of the grid. I think - really hope - you'll enjoy today's puzzle.

Thanks Malone, I've had a quick glance and 'think'! I've got some idea as to what's going on. I'll try and solve some of the 'low lying fruit' tonight and then get properly stuck in tomorrow. Expect me back for some guidance:-)

Thanks Malone,

I've got a completed grid (with everything written in pencil) but I'm not totally sure which clues have the unparsed letters.

I think these clues have one or more letters with no wordplay. Can you confirm if they are right or wrong?

39a TI

41a NG

1d A

21d PIT

I know there are more but I just want to know if I'm on the right track.

Hi brendan, 1d is normal no missing letter(s) from wordplay. The others you've listed are spot-on.
