pendragon, 8d's been discussed. You wanted help on 13 - it's a classical reference and the clued but unentered part is straightforward - letter for left plus a "house" without the i. 20 - the clued/unentered bit has been discussed above - 2-letter word for bill, the rest being lines up (military-style) - and the last word seems to be definition (which we're not supposed to have) ...

Nikki - I think Barreter is referring to 8d. 12ac is themed, but not obscure, though I suppose it's uncommon to see it in the plural.

I'm sure Barretter meant that sex was a hint for 8d, not 6d!

I parsed 6dn in a similar way as Barreter, but I don't think it's a good clue. At first, I was sure the grid entry was "cons" until the crossers proved it was wrong. But its along those lines.

Yes, sorry, I meant 8d is to do with the sex - the original being a 4-letter synonym for "offers" with an "r" for "Republican" being inserted.

nikki - 12 (unentered pairing) is a word for how far you can see plus common word for stories without the e.

Nikki - if you're struggling with 12ac, are you sure you've got 4dn right? It's a plural noun.
