I've now got 15d but it messes up what I thought was the correct pairing for 22a (the clue for which I've definitely solved). A gentle nudge would be appreciated.

I also picked the wrong partner for the fairly straightforward solution to 22a at first. There is another possibility, slightly sneaky.

I am struggling in NE corner. My answers for 10a and 6d don't work together, and I haven't a clue about 12a, or 4d and 8d...Hints, please!

The 10s are what aunties and uncles have ; the partner of 6d is a word made from 3 letters which are common to sparrow and parrot. The partner of 12a is what is at the end of how far you can see plus a synonym for stories minue e. 6d is to do with sex. I haven't yet solved 4d nor, indeed, most of the left-hand side! Hints very much appreciated.

Then I have the same as you for10a, Barretta. I am intrigued by your hint for 6d - the same hint might apply to 4d, if I have it correct, which gives "i" as the first letter of 12a - which still baffles me.
Which are you particularly stuck on?

Why does everybody discuss only the clues I've solved? Ha-ha.

Barretter – 4D is the pairing for a synonym for people, with L replaced by R.

I find my definition for “Even sheen” very loose, but it fits the cryptic clue. And I had MEN+S for 2D, and therefore tried to enter LADIES or WOMENS (but I have it now).

But 7D must end in N (because of the writer), so must the pairing for 7D also end in N (rather than M)? Can I have a few pointers for 13A (which starts with a P?), 20A, and 8D please?

I have the last entered letter for 7d as an M, and the last letter entered at 2d as an N.

I have 2dn as a normal clue with a military connection.
Stuck on my last one: 8 d which I can't parse. Republican should be R but can get the rest

I've got 2dn as a themed clue. Remove the first 2 letters ("soldiers") for the grid entry pairing. 8dn is also themed. Your R is right, and you want to put it into a simple 4-letter word meaning "offers". The grid entry will then be obvious.

Peterm, I also have 2d as a themed clue.
But I am still bemused by Barretter's "to do with sex" hint to 6d and the pair for what I have for 12a! (it is either really obscure or I am going to kick myself!).
