I thought this one was really tricky and I couldn't fathom how to begin with some of the clues. However, with help from all of you, I'm coming close to finishing.
Please give me some heavy hints for 10d and 30a.
Thanks

Hi Ruby,

10d Definition = A foreign word for 'story'

1st 3 letters = 'endless' bile + 4 letter word meaning 'filth' or manure + 5 letter word meaning 'someone from Itlian capital'.

30a Def. = Quark (but not the physics meaning)

Revolutionary = The usual Argentine who was instrumental in Cuba around the 'casing of e(lectron)s + 1 letter abbr. for 'energy.

Apologies Ruby,

10d After 'endless bile' it's a 4 letter word but as it's 'filth's' with an S at the end, there is also an S at the end of this word too.

Thanks Brendan.
10d answer is new to me (managed to look it up) but helpful to see the rather pedantic parsing by the setter.
And I didn't know quark was a cheese!

Same here Ruby, never heard of 10d before and only knew the quark from physics .

Ha! Never heard quark re. physics - only through making baked cheesecake...it’s what gives it its great ‘dry’ texture. Had fun with this crossword - like Everyman’s attempts to use some unconventional strategies which unfortunately seems to annoy some people 😊

Re. 10d and ‘filth’s’ causing the answer to also have an ‘s’...I read it as therefore possessive as in ‘Filth is Italian’ and therefore the answer reads the same

Hi Waggers, I was agreeing that with you that some of the setter's strategies were unconventional.

I'm not sure what your next post meant or was trying to say.
