I assume it is a tattoo. I have heard "cocka'oo", which is awful.

Just been watching a video on how to propagate certain plants.
The presenter kept referring to the compost as dirt, which is a pet hate of mine, but at least he didn't call it dir'!

It could not have been Monty Don with his wonderful voice. He would never refer to dirt or drop any t. Was it an expert or a mere presenter? As in football, presenters get things wrong.

I am used to people dropping the t in the middle or at the end of words, but now they are being dropped at the beginning.

A BBC presenter who speaks perfect English said that it would be a big 'ask for England to beat Germany. It will certainly be a difficult task, but why not say so?

Is that tongue-in-cheek, grunger? "A big ask" is common sports-talk for "it's asking a lot".

It`s a massive game Gary, absolutely massive!
I think we should try and sneak a goal while Germany are taking the knee.

Thanks, so they use "ask" as a noun. I have heard "stand out" used as an adjective instead of outstanding.

Yes scoring before the match would be useful, but I think we will have to settle for penalties. No Grealish, Mount or Foden, our 3 best players, and no Calvert --Lewin on the bench.

Letter in yesterday's Times:

Sir, Now that Matt Hancock has resigned, can we hope for a return to the "t" sound again? I, for one, was getting heartily sick of "Ma' Hancock".

Well, Chrise @2389, asking about the glo'al stop.
You are talking to someone who lives only twenty miles from Lu'on and Lu'on Airpor'.
