Hardly a case of long time no c. 😏

While I'm here. Yesterday's Times had a report of Bank Holiday Sunday 'beaches bustling and roads rammed'.

Rammed? I've heard it a lot recently. I would say crammed (not necessarily jammed, which may not be quite the same thing) if I didn't settle on very busy or crowded.

Do we have traffic rams instead of traffic jams now?

And was the beach really bustling or was it just crowded? Bustling suggests everyone on the beach was very active. Maybe some were but was no one just lying on the sand or sitting on a chair enjoying the sun?

Sitting on a chair . . . or sitting in a chair?

Both forms are correct, although I've never heard of a king or queen sitting in a throne.

It rather depends on the design of the chair! You would sit on an ordinary kitchen stand chair; but at the other extreme, definitely in an egg chair...

I followed the game but couldnt go. Wondered if Lancs had batted too long. A good fight back by Yorks but we got there.

I am enjoying the Championship though Worcs are not doing very well. I believe the "streaming" services from the counties are incredibly popular, though I dont know what they are. It shows what we already know - proper cricket is very popular, though not many people can go.

Are you going to Scarborough? I dont know if it was fixed but great to get 2 Roses matches and in my case 2 Worcs v Warwks derbies.

I`m a life member at Scarborough so hoping to go to both 4 day matches there. Not booked the hotel accommodation yet - I use bus/train to get to Scarb - but we still have public transport restrictions locally due to Covid, so am waiting for Boris to give us the all clear!

I`ve never been to Worcester but intend to get there one day - my last away trip was to Chelmsford which I enjoyed very much despite losing!

I`ve seen photos of the Worcester ground under six feet of water - amazing how grass seems to recover choose what mother nature throws at it!
