Very difficult. Slut is just about the worst insult and yet it will be allowed.

I am currently being irritated by messages on food packaging. I dont usually read them, but I was delighted to open a packet of "whole-food scampi" last night which stated that the packet "may include fish or molluscs". I loved the "may".

I hope the contents were suitable. I dont know why they cant say "does.... ". I once saw an egg-box with the message "may contain egg products".

I've heard it several times before and I heard it again on BBC Radio 5 Live this morning. Talking about crowds, he said, 'Knightsbridge was rammed.'

Shouldn't that be 'crammed'?

Hi Paul,
I note the ODE has ‘rammed’ as...
Brit. informal (of a place) be very crowed”
No such reference in Chambers or Collins as far as I can see.

Ah, Jono @2304, I was going by Chambers.

I think 'rammed' has become more common in recent years. I still don't like it.

I don't like rammed either in that context.
To me it implies force being used.

Nice to hear from you. Hope you are well. Yes a somewhat lucky but badly needed win. We have got key players back now, so good chance of qualifying for Europe. Against Brighton a couple of weeks ago we only had 11 senior outfield players available, and we had 4 children on the bench.

I am enjoying following the county cricket in the fine weather, and desperate for spectators to be allowed.

I agree with you about rammed. It does not sound right and so cannot be right, in my opinion, even if a dictionary accepts it.
