In order, souses, knocks off work, ears of grain, dover.

For myself I'm really struggling to finish this one so any hint at where the second entity is to be found from would be appreciated as several of them seem to be very obscure!

Sunray, Souses is the def, men as on a chessboard after D, 33 I have not solved, ears is the def, answer is word for sure with first letter at the back, for the last one, look at dove in Chambers.

Yes, the 4-letter name is significant.

33: Yes, this is Scottish and the def is the last 5 words.

gitto, working on your hints.

I get Souses as D followed by castles. I don't know if they can be called men.

33 took me a long time. But the word begins with B and means ruddy-faced young woman. B + depressed + two directions.

Got 35. Had No idea that the word meant ear of corn.

43. Could it have S???ze as the answer. Cannot figure out what sabre is
in wordplay.

From first 10, I have only 3. Will work on those now.

I have an idea for the second entity but if it is correct it is even more obscure than the rest! Anyone know the answer? A hint would be very much appreciated,

Sunray - what is a sabre an example of (apart from a fearsome setter!)? Reverse it.
