I groaned inwardly when I saw the words "Printer's Devilry", a type of puzzle I like even less than the dreaded Playfair. But this was quite delightful, with clues reading remarkably smoothly both pre- and post-devilling. I wonder if the fellow occupying the first five cells of 22 Down was there deliberately? An excellent Listener

That's one I haven't yet got. Is 21ac a disease-carrying fly?

Somene has suggested on "the other site" that PD clues get easier as you get into the swing of them, and I've certainly found that to be true here. Some nice moments when you see how a new word transforms a sentence.

I'm also struggling with 4d, so any help appreciated, thanks

Dylan, In city regularly inside a word for aged. Misprint clue.
I agree with Crucifer. Some elegant devilries and a packed construction make this an excellent example of this unpopular format

Like Caphrist, my heart sank at the prospect of a printers devilry challenge, which I normally hate, but this was brilliant. I had a second panic once I had sorted the misprints, but fortunately the end game was not as frustrating as others in the past. A superb puzzle with an outstanding set of clues, not one of which I feel deserves any criticism.

I’m also not a fan of Printer’s Devilry, but the clues of this type were nicely constructed (I particularly liked 28ac). A quick endgame means I’ve finished before lunch. The high standard of this year’s puzzles continues.

Almost there, can someone confirm for me that 18ac is a devil rather than misprint. I can't for the life of me see where the possible words go in. Thanks.
