Hi, Rusty!
Oh, I did not know that a family named "Walton" owned Walmart.
Theirs is obviously a major success story!
I hadn't heard of either "maror" or "golem", Rusty...... and could not follow the word play to arrive at the answer!
And I still cannot get 1d, despite your hints......
I have P?R?L?E? / P?R?
I think you will have to tell me the answer, please?
I have been talking to my daughter.....she was on her way to collect the boys.
Usually her husband does that, but he had a lecture to attend this evening, so she was doing the pick- up.
We spoke until she lost reception.
Sausages, onions and fried potatoes for dinner!

Hello, Elle!
Here is a little clip about the Waltons. https://www.businessinsider.com/how-the-waltons-spend-their-fortune-2017-7?r=US&IR=T
Wed is "marry", remove last letter and insert "O".
Anne B has both these words.
I really appreciate her!
The other one is "parallel park".
If you were a driver you'd have known this one.
A parallel is a line on a map and Mungo Park was the explorer.
Your dinner sounds nice!
I had porridge and a banana for my tea.

Hi, Rusty!
I have never before heard the term "parallel park".
I am learning a lot of new words today!
(At least I knew of Boolean algebra.....also known as Binary algebra!
So a saving grace from my past!)
I've just realised that I didn't manage to parse all of 9d: writer's cramp = author's weakness (def)
Please can you explain that to me?
I couldn't access that clip that you sent about the Waltons.....
I had a message come up across the computer screen saying that to read the clip I should need to remove my Adblocker!
I've never had that happen before?

Hello, Elle!
I had not heard of "Boolean", I'm afraid.
I had heard of algebra, though.
I get the message about switching off Adblocker sometimes.
Just takes a second for me to switch it off and then back on when I have finished.
Anyway, all the Walton family are billionaires.
Apparently the richest non-royal family in the world.
9d, I shall have to be a bit careful here!
All I know about Quentin Crisp is that he was a very effeminate man, and he was a writer, too.
So it could be said of him that the "writer's camp".
Do you understand that meaning?
Add in the Queen, "R" and you get "writer's cRamp" for the author's weakness.
Did John Hurt not play Crisp in a film?

Hi, Rusty!
I'm afraid that I leave my Adblocker strictly alone.
I had such trouble downloading a "freebie" that worked , in the first place, that I don't tempt providence by messing with it!
I didn't know of Quentin Crisp.....yes, I understand the term "camp".
I can see how the answer is derived, now.....
Thank you!
Perhaps I should have Googled "Quentin Crisp"....
I don't know about any film?
I've just received a text inviting me out to lunch tomorrow.
That will be nice!

Hello, Elle!
My Adblock icon is on my top bar, and it is very simple to switch on and off.
I only have it on my Chromebook, as my tablet and phone run on Brave browser which blocks ads, anyway.
The film or series about Crisp was called "The Naked Civil Servant".
I did not see it, but I know John Hurt played him in it.
I was slightly surprised at The Times using a clue like that, but then I am quite old-fashioned!

Hi, Rusty!
I do remember the title "The Naked Civil Servant", but did not know who it was about.
I've come across "camp" in crosswords before.....
Right, I am now about to take action against the probability of our water being cut off for the third night running...and go and have an early bath!
We have Thames Water camped out at the end of our street........
They have been there for a fortnight now!
And for the last two nights our water supply has been cut off around midnight!!
Last night, I had just loaded the washing machine, when I discovered there was no water!
And we had yet to bath!
We were not best pleased!
I was under the impression that it was obligatory for the Water Board to inform residents if the water supply is to be cut off?
I tried contacting the authorities today, but couldn't get through on a viable press button option!
It has seemed simpler to pre-empt the situation by talking early baths/ showers!

Hello, Elle!
I would have thought Thames Water should tell affected residents they are cutting off the water.
Is there not a website that shows where they are working etc?
Or they will be on Twitter, I am sure, and could post info like that.

Hi, Rusty!
I am back again ....now well scrubbed!
My husband had a word with the T.W. workmen (at the end of the road) on Tuesday morning, after Monday night's debacle, and they apologised and said that if they were going to disconnect the water again, they would post notes through people's doors.......
But of course they didn't!
It must be greatly inconveniencing some of the street's residents as, for instance, one man is a taxi driver , who works shifts......and another a junior doctor at a local hospital and she works very irregular hours.
And also having had no warning meant that no one had "saved" any water in kettles, containers or suchlike!
So there was water neither to wash nor drink!
Ah well, maybe it won't happen again....but if does it go off again tonight, then I shall make more effort tomorrow to contact someone "in authority"!

Good morning, Rusty!
A lovely day here......
I had a pleasant walk in the park, and now I am about to go out yet again,...this time to meet up with a friend.
I hope your weather is as nice as this!
I shall be home again about teatime!
