Hello, Elle!
Great afternoon here.
You are not dim, but learning!
I remember when I started out, I was completely stuck on one clue.
Just could not fathom it.
The first word in clue was "As" and I eventually looked it up and discovered it was the symbol for arsenic.
I can't remember the answer but once I had arsenic it fell into place.
"Ip" is puzzling me, too, Elle.
It can mean Internet Protocol, but I suspect it is 1p (one penny).
"One penny sofa company"?
Does that make sense, you think?
Yes, my son should be here soon.
He was at the physio earlier, so may be a bit late.

Good evening, Rusty!
I know I do not make it easy on myself - or you - when I want to understand every bit of the clue......
But that is the only way to learn, isn't it?
To try to dot all the "i"s and cross all the "t"s?
I am doing my best!
Yes, you could well be right....."1p" is "ridiculously cheap"?
Sounds good?
I think you have it!
Oh dear! Is your son okay?
Why does he need to go to physio?
I hope you both have a good chat!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, best way to learn is to ask.
And often the parse makes the answer clear, hopefully.
I look on it as a game. The setter versus me!
I think 1p makes good sense, too, and fits the parse well.
My son gets recurring back problems.
It is with his job.
He is a plumber and has to get into awkward spaces etc.
So he visits a physio for treatment.
He has just gone home.
We had a good time.

Hi, Rusty!
I am glad you and your son had a good time together.
It must be painful for him, working with a back problem....especially as the job caused it, and constantly exacerbates it.
I hope the physio helps.
I have been catching up with my weekly serial, "Deep Water".
I record it on Wednesday, then usually watch it on Thursday......thus being able to fast forward through the adverts!
Next week is the final episode...I still am unsure where this is going......
I might possibly look up the book on which this is based, and consider buying it.
Right, time for a coffee.......and maybe a chocolate muffin?

Hello, Elle!
My son has had this problem for some time.
His job does not help, but he manages it as best he can.
He likes the physio treatment.
I don't know your serial "Deep Water".
I am up early tomorrow to get my paper, before the golf starts.
The Solheim Cup starts tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it.
It's one of my favourite events.
It is on TV from 7.30 in the morning.

Struwellpeter is a collection of utterly horrible German stories showing what happens to bad children, from the mid 19th century I think. Don't bother.

King Rollo, on the other hand, is a charming boy, and the stories were loved by my younger son in particular. The illustrations are excellent- Hamlet the cat in particular, I'm sure YB would love them. I think you have to get the books from eBay.

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
Another lovely sunny, crisp, day here.
A good energetic walk this morning.
Did you get out extra early to fetch your paper?
I expect you are busy watching the golf by now!
We have the plumber arriving at some point this morning to put in a new electric shower unit, and also to do something to the internal stop- cock in the kitchen.
It does not function properly.....and we have to switch off the water from outside if there is a problem.
I think some pipes are being replaced, and a new- fangled stop -cock device is being fitted.
I shall retire from the fray...and do my crossword in peace and quiet!

Good morning, Elle!
A fine day here!
I was out early for my paper, indeed!
I have the golf on.
Great weather at Gleneagles, the course looks magnificent, and the girls are well wrapped up against tbe chill!
The American supporters are making plenty noise cheering their team, adding to the atmosphere.
A few jobs there for your plumber to complete.
Yes, best out of the way.
The tradesmen prefer that.

Hi, Rusty!
Our plumber is hard at work......I have made the first cup of coffee and supplied the biscuits!
I hope the golf is going well?
Are any of your favourites playing?
Is the Gleneagles course far from you? I have no sense of Geography.....
I got as far as printing out my crossword, but haven't actually looked at it yet!

Hello, Elle!
Good news about the plumber!
Yes, on the American team, I like Lexi Thomson, but she has just lost.
And I like the Korda sisters (Nelly and Jessica) who have just won.
I can't tell them apart, though!
For Europe, I like Georgia Hall, Bronte Law, and Charley Hull.
There are a lot of rookies on both teams.
Europe are just ahead, but a long way to go.
Finishes on Sunday.
No, Gleneagles is about an hour from me, by car.
I have finished my puzzle.
I liked 28a, made me smile!
