Hi, Rusty!
You will make it to the Somme Museum one of these days!
Do your friends live in Newtownards then, that they were married there?
Or is it just a 'fashionable' venue for weddings?
You were Best Man at their wedding, weren't you?
Somewhat surprisingly, "The Road Not Taken " turned up as part of a question on tonight's "Eggheads"!
Did you ever buy the children's book of Robert Frost's poems?
The volume that was so beautifully illustrated?
I think I might have been tempted to buy it just for the pictures!

Hello, Elle!
My friends live in a small village not far from Newtownards.
The wedding was there, but the reception was in Bangor.
Yes, I was best man.
What was the question about "The Road Not Taken"?
My daughter-in-law has a printer and she printed off several of Robert Frost's poems for me.
So, I did not buy the book.
Did you finish your puzzle?

Hi, Rusty!
Oh dear, I'm afraid that I cannot now remember the actual question about "The Road Not Taken".
I think the contestant was given the name of a poet, and asked which of the following poems he had written...
Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken" was one of the multiple choice options.
I did not even start my crossword, today, Rusty, let alone finish it!
I had printed it out...but shortly after that , our friend came round, and the prospect of my doing the puzzle "went out of the window"!
I found myself too occupied for the remainder of the day.
And I have spent the evening, reading one of the Felix Francis books that I had ordered.
"Gamble" is Felix's first solo book written after collaborating writing a few novels with his father, Dick Francis.
I enjoyed it...I would say there is perhaps a little more meat on the bones than in Dick Francis' many books?
And a little less stress on the horse-racing element.....
So slightly different, but it made good reading.

Good morning, Elle!
Fine day here!
I like Robert Frost's poems.
I think he's the only poet I've ever taken to!
I had not heard of Felix Francis until you mentioned him.
I am heading out soon in my car.
Have a little task to complete!

Good morning, Rusty!
Are you back home again?
It is somewhat dull here, but at least it is dry!
I am just home from my walk.
I have a few household chores to do first, and some paperwork to sort out.
Then I shall give my attention to today's crossword.
But first......it is coffee time!

Hello, Elle!
Great weather here, so far.
"I have returned" home, like General Macarthur!
I have done today's puzzle, and I really liked it.
Thought 14a was a super clue, and it made me smile.
27a is very "smileable" (is that a word?) too.
And 18a is a new word to me.
I've just had a coffee and two apple pies!

Hi, Rusty!
One of your apple pies would have gone down a treat with my coffee!
Yes, a nice straightforward crossword puzzle today....
I thought the Wednesday one was supposedly the hardest of the week?
Mind you, I am not complaining .......my brain is in overload...... and not up to much additional strain this morning!
But I couldn't do 14a, which you had thought was a wonderful clue!
This is the only one, though, that I have left......
14a: ?E?A?P?E?T
I liked 8d: filament; 22d: mirror; and 26a: rhino
"Homiletics" and "tod" are new words for me.
I think you may have "coined" a new word...I don't think "smileable" is in the dictionary!

Hello, Elle!
I am surprised you do not know tod/fox!
Now, 14, is a smashing clue, for me!
"Escape" is the definition.
Nice is "decent".
All day is "a.m." plus "p.m."
Giving "decampment".
Do you like it?

Hi, Rusty!
Re 13a: I had arrived at "toad" for 13a , from my crossovers, and then discovered that "fox" = "tod" from my Bradfords.
Although personally I actually rather like frogs and toads, and would never consider them to be "nasty creatures".
Yes, "decampment" is a very clever clue!
I was looking for a Latin word that would fit ...so was way off beam!
I am feeling a bit parky today...I am wondering about ferreting out the winter woollies?
But it seems defeatist to do this in September!

Hello, Elle!
I agree with you regarding "toad", I don't see them as "nasty creatures", but Collins has a definition stating, "a loathsome person".
I don't know why that should be?
"Decampment" is the Clue of the Week, for me, so far!
I have had one of my fleece shirts on, on various days, recently.
And I've seen folks wearing anoraks.
There is a definite chill in the air.
