Hello, Elle!
Still a bit dreich here.
I am home for the day.
I have been tidying up paperwork etc.

Good puzzle today!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
It is becoming a bit cloudy here, now.......although rain is not forecast.
Yes, paperwork seems never-ending.....I do use the computer for many of my records, but there is still a lot of hands- on stuff to do.
I agree with you about today's crossword - a very nice one!
And I completed it - yes, parses and all - in record time (for me).
I liked 25a: trifid (this was a new word for me); 3d: Carmarthen; and 7d: embark.
I knew "Caduceus"...a staff carried by Mercury.
I feel well satisfied with my efforts!
I have had a visit from the "man -next - door" - the elusive "new" owner of the house.
Apparently he still has intentions/ plans to turn the property into flats.....
Although he says he has run out of money.
Long may he stay impecunious!
No- one on the street.... not least his more immediate neighbours.... wish there to be a single (usually family home) property boasting multi-flats !!
I foresee a long (legal?) battle, should this conversion plan go ahead!
Oh dear!

Hello, Elle!
I did not know "trifid", too.
That is some time since your neighbour bought the house.
No, I can see why your neighbours would prefer it left as a family home.
Just had a text from La Bamba inviting me to Pine Cone with her on Thursday.
She is back at uni next week.

elle I should think it unlikely your neighbour would be allowed to turn the house into flats, or more than 2 anyway. The parking is impossible, isn't it?

Since no-one attempted my question, I'll tell you. All dragonflies have 6 legs and almost all of them cannot walk.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, the new owner completely gutted the house, as his first stage to carrying out the conversion to four flats.
Then he ran out of funds, and the property has been standing empty since then
The back garden is totally overgrown.....and the front of the house a mess.
So I asked him this morning if he were able to tidy up the front a little , as it is an eyesore in an otherwise "respectable" street.
He has assured me that he will.....time will tell if these be empty words.
That will be nice for you going out to the Pine Cone with Miss L-B.
How much longer does she have to do at Uni before graduating?
BB was back at school this morning... Year 3 now.....so a new teacher.
It hardly seems credible that YB will be starting primary school this time next year!

Hello, Ros!
Well, we are all hoping for no more than two flats ...given the size of the properties that possibly would be acceptable, but the house owner is planning on four.
You are right, there is no room for extra parking, but the Council does not see that as its concern.
If anyone wanted to object on those grounds, seemingly it would be necessary to take out a private action.
Just more grief!

Hello, Elle!
There is a property across the lane from me, like that.
Bought over a year ago.
Workmen in working, then nothing for a month or so, then workmen back again.
I think it is a cash flow issue.
Work gets done when they have money.
Yes, L-B and me are looking forward to going out.
I have no idea when she graduates.
I'll wait until I am told.

Hi, Rusty!
I have just been talking on the phone with BB.
He has been telling me all about his first day back at school, with the new teacher!
What it is to see the school day through the eyes of a seven -year -old!
My daughter has been working from home today, so that she could collect him from school.
More usually, he goes to "After School Club" until a parent can collect him at a later time.
Right...I am now about to prepare dinner, whilst my husband goes to the "tip" with garden rubbish.
I'll get dinner under way.....and then I'll watch "Eggheads"!

Good evening, Elle!
Did BB like his new teacher?
Let's hope so!
Been on the chilly side here today.
I'm just going to explore what's on YouTube.

Hi, Rusty!
The teacher is not only new to the current Year 3, but to the school.
I asked BB if she was nice...
He said "She's all right".
When I asked if she was young, he said "Middling".
Do you reckon this puts her at about 27?
Heaven help the rest of us!
I'll order my zimmer frame tomorrow......
Did you find anything of interest on YouTube?

Hello, Elle!
I remember Miss O starting her driving lessons when she was 17.
I asked her if her instructor was a nice man.
Yes, she said, but he's old.
The poor lad was 41 years of age!
I watched a couple of nature videos and learned how to adjust tip and turn windows.
I may go back and see what else I find.
See if there are any new Sissel clips.
Or a Kseniya Simonova video.
