Good afternoon, Elle!
Apparently the panel thought Paul Potts should have been in the final.
But, to be fair to Simon, he told him his voice was a bit wavery at the start, and got better as he went along.
And Simon thought Boogie Storm were fantastic, whereas I thought they were mediocre and not a patch on Diversity.
The "super audience" who vote for the acts are apart from the main audience.
The main audience do not get a vote.
The panel were also disappointed the the little girl who grew up did not make the last three.
My thoughts are that she sang reasonably well until she screwed up her face to force notes out.
It looks and sounds awful, to me, although the audience thought it was great!
Millionaire was good, though one woman lost £90,000 plus.
The flights across Europe are delayed.
Some problem in France, I think.
Sorry, I can't help you with your puzzle, Elle.
Not familiar with the Thames.
Have you a crossing letter at all?

Hi, Rusty!
I remember "Boogie Storm" from before...their act did not appeal to me, either then or now.
Yes, I could see that some of the acts were indeed very accomplished, but, to be honest, there was none that particularly appealed to me, apart from the sand artist --- and I thought she was absolutely fantastic!
I guess it is just a question of personal taste?
People like different things.....
I didn't understand about the "super audience"......
I obviously wasn't listening properly...I just fast forwarded to see what I thought of the acts.....
So of whom does this "super audience" consist ?
And how does the voting system work, then?
Lordy, I should have paid proper attention!
No, I didn't need help with my puzzle, Rusty...I had finished it long ago!
I was just offering you the clue as it was both a "Londonism" and a homophone!
Both of which I know you tend to dislike!!
19a: As one who adores setters may be heard to say somewhere along the Thames (4,2,4)
"Isle of Dogs" (supposedly) sounds like "I love dogs" !!
(As I said previously, , it doesn't sound like that the way I enunciate my words!)
I hope your family doesn't have too much trouble in getting home.......

Hello, Elle!
I never rated Boogie Storm at all, but they are a favourite of Simon's.
I would have preferred to see someone like Lettice Rowbotham back, instead of them.
I don't understand how the "super fans" are chosen.
I am not sure that we were told that.
I agree, Kseniya Simonova was close to perfect.
I was very pleased for her.
What I did like was the effort that had gone into the sets etc
The technical work done for all the acts was brilliant.
The voting is simple.
The golden buzzer act is chosen by a judge,
The "super fans" choose the second act.
Is their a place called Isle of Dogs?
I can see how the clue works then!
It would be pretty close to the way I would say it!
My NI friends have a delayed flight to Belfast from Majorca.
Seems to a lot of places affected.

Hi, Rusty!
The Isle of Dogs is a large peninsula created by the River Thames bordering it on three sides.
It is in East London and consists of Millwall, Poplar, Limehouse and Canary Wharf.
You will probably have heard of Canary Wharf?
It is located on the West India Docks on the Isle of Dogs.
Canary Wharf is one of the main financial centres of the UK., and has a lot of very tall buildings.
You may have seen pictures of One, Canada Square - the second largest building in the UK?
It resembles a "pencil point", and can be seen from many vantage points across London.
I know "Lettice Rowbotham"!
She played a violin...and was like a breath of fresh air!
I liked her!
I discovered that BGT was being shown again, this afternoon, so I am recording the last hour of it....
Maybe when I watch it later, I will gain some insight on how this voting system works......…
I hope so.
I hope you hear from your family and your Norn Iron friends soon.....and that they make it home without much more ado!

Hello, Elle!
So, there is an Isle of Dogs!
I did not know!
Yes, Lettice was great. Miss Personality Plus!
The world needs more Lettices!
Hope you like the last hour of BGT.
Millionaire is on later, too.
My family is in the air.
Landing at Glasgow around 5.20.
All quiet from the NI folks.

Good evening, Rusty!
I have just watched the remainder of BGT that I failed to see yesterday.
I had only missed two acts......
Paul Potts, whom I thought very good, and was surprised that he wasn't at least in the top three.
And The Sacred Riana, who was indeed scary, and terrified poor Amanda!
Again!
I cannot see how she pulls off these tricks/ illusions.
I am still no wiser about how the voting panel was chosen?
Ant and Dec simply referred to the "super fans on the arena floor", and told them to use their keypads to vote.
The judges looked very surprised by the results.... Simon was utterly gobsmacked!
And I heard Amanda say "What about Paul Potts?"
Somewhat of a travesty?!
Your family should have left Glasgow by now......how long does it take for them to get home?

Hello, Elle!
No travesty for me, the best acts went to the final.
Simon wanted the Boogie team in the final but the "super fans" did not.
I thought the salsa dancers should be in the top three, but we all have different tastes.
The "super fans" maybe were not opera fans and possibly Paul did not appeal to them.
It may have helped him if he sang something that folk knew.
When he won he sang "Nessun Dorma", and last night did not appear to start very well, as was pointed out.
An hour and a half should see them home from Glasgow.

I've just watched a profile of Peter, Paul and Mary (what's got six legs and a handbag?). I'm in tears as they performed "where have all the flowers gone?" with Pete Seeger.

I didn't realise that they were so political

Hi, Rusty!
It will be interesting to see how things progress as BGT advances.....
I should very much like to know how these "super fans" are picked, though.
I wonder how the producers - is it they who decide? - arrive at a fair representation of people to "judge"?
I have made a start on the Times Monthly crossword......
I do a little at a time.....
Sometimes, it takes me a fair bit of research to find an answer.
I enjoy it though.
You will be glad when your family is safely back home!
I hope your NI friends reach base soon, too.
I shall go make a coffee, before it is time to talk to my cousin.

Hello, Elle!
Goodness knows about the "super fans"!
It is odd, though.
My son has just arrived home.
The NI folk have just left Palma, Majorca.
Lots of delayed flights, it seems.
